Summer 2012
This summer I have been invited for a month-long residency at Elsewhere Collaborative in Greensboro, NC. I look forward to getting to know more about a great organization in my home state and meeting new people. I will also be preparing for my new position as woodworking/sculpture/photography teacher at Moorestown Friends School in Moorestown, NJ (just outside of Philadephia).
Elsewhere Residency
I have looked at Elsewhere the past two years, just waiting until I could get the chance to participate. Hopefully that time has come, this summer I will be going to work at the living museum! Elsewhere Website
MCA Curriculum Slam
The Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago is holding a series of 8 short lectures from educators sharing projects and I was selected to present ProtoStudio! The lecture will be on February 7th from 4:30-6:30 at the MCA.
ProtoStudio
I am documenting the first full year of ProtoStudio advanced art program for high school students at Lane Tech at the ProtoStudio blog. In the program I have been able to experiment with a challenging curriculum for an interdisciplinary group of students. Please take a look if you haven't already!
New School Year at SAIC
August 31st begins my final year of school at SAIC. I am working on finishing projects related to my time in Chile and I will be starting the next year of Proto Studio at Lane Tech High School and working at the Southside Hub of Production (SHoP) on occasion. In addition to what is up in Chicago, we will be debuting a new website for the Sycamore Hill Bell Tower Project in the coming months!
Back From Talca, Chile
The Com(m)a GFRY studio summer trip was fantastic. Chile is an incredible country, and the student movement happening there now is an example people everywhere can follow. Thank you to everyone in Talca and Santiago for your hospitality.
The World As Text Reading Room Design Process
I am assisting John Preus and Jessica Cochran in their design of a reading room at Columbia College's Center for Book and Paper Arts. We are using a bunch of old desks to transform the gallery space and create displays for the artists' books in the exhibition The World As Text

Tools for Talca, Chile
In about three weeks I will be heading to Talca, Chile as part of the com(m)a GFRY studio. I will be working with residents to repair and build small projects in wood, all the while sharing woodworking techniques with the people there, and finally leaving tools behind in a neighborhood center. Any donations of tools is excellent and I will be posting paintings for sale as a fundraiser in the next few days.
Talca Interrupted
A documentary filmmaker will be joining our COM(M)A studio in Talca, Chile. Please go to the link below and watch the trailer video, and donate if you feel so inclined!

School of the Art Institute Chicago
I will be attending the School of the Art Institute Chicago for an MFA in sculpture starting this fall. I am very excited about a new environment, although it was difficult to make the decision to leave NC.

Countertransference is an exhibition at UNCW opening on May 28th and running until August 6th. The reception will be from 5-7 on May 28th, and during the summer it will be open m-th 12-4. This is my first larger curatorial adventure, and it includes many friends from NC.
Update on Shore Drive
The design firm hired to redesign the Town Commons in Greenville has released their first stage in the design process. On the Southwest corner of the park, they are planning to have a memorial to the history of the location (keyword for our project). Later this year, the final masterplan will be decided.
Sparkcon and Countertransference
In September 2009 I participated in Sparkcon 2009 as a site-specific installation artist in downtown Raleigh. With less than a month to work within the location and finish a project, it was a difficult task. My installation, as well as 4 others were placed on Fayetteville Street just in front of the State Capitol building in PODS containers.

Also, if you are within the southeast NC region next summer, be sure to drop by UNCW for "Countertransference: Approaches in Social Art Practice." It is an exhibition I will be curating with approximately 10 artists working with regional issues in installation and conceptual derived formats. It includes a mixed bag of artists, from those just beginning graduate school to some well known faculty members who have won national arts awards.

Town Commons Project
Currently I am working with Sycamore Hill Church Members on a project to get the bell tower of their old church rebuilt as a historical monument. If you are interested in being a part of this project please send me an email.
